Ways to Build Your Legacy

Your values have shaped our community today.

Your legacy can shape its future forever.

There is no "one size fits all" approach to legacy giving. Whether you wish to make a large impact with a specific asset or a simple percentage of your estate, we can help you find the vehicle that fits your financial and philanthropic goals.

01.

Bequests

A promise for the future. This is the most common and simplest way to give. You can designate a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or the residue of your estate to the Northern Cincinnati Foundation in your will or living trust.

  • Retain asset control
  • Revocable anytime
  • Costs nothing today

02.

Beneficiary Designations

The simplest way to give. You can name the Northern Cincinnati Foundation as a beneficiary (partial or full) of your retirement accounts (IRA, 401k), life insurance policy, or commercial annuity. This is often done by simply filling out a form with your plan administrator—no complex legal drafting required.

  • Highly tax-efficient
  • Avoids probate
  • No attorney needed

03.

Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs)

Income for you, impact for the community. A CRT allows you to place assets in a trust that pays an annual income to you (or your beneficiaries) for life or a set term. Once that term ends, the remaining assets transfer to the Foundation to support the causes you selected.

  • Lifetime income
  • Immediate tax deduction
  • Bypass capital gains
