    Our History & Growth

Discover the milestones that have shaped our foundation's evolution from a grassroots effort to a regional force for good.

The Birth of a Community Foundation

After the Woodbridge Apartment fire in West Chester Township, local volunteers who would later create the Community Foundation came together to mobilize support for the dozens of displaced families. Their action led to the idea for the Foundation and a year later, they awarded their first grant to Reach Out Lakota.

    1999

    Establishing Roots

Our first charitable fund was established, first paid staff was hired, and we moved from the kitchen table to our first office space

    2001

    Reaching the First Million

Thanks to the generosity of the local community, our charitable assets reached $1M across 32 funds.

    2003

    National Recognition

We achieved our first $1M milestone in cumulative grants awarded, as well as our initial National Standards Certification from the Council on Foundations.

    2006

    A Decade of Impact

The Foundation celebrated 10 years in operation, reached $6M in assets and $2M in grants awarded.

    2009

    A Generous Move

We moved to new office space generously donated by Park National Bank on Princeton Glendale Road.

    2014

    Strategic Transformation

The Foundation’s board and staff completed a transformational Strategic Plan focused on sustainability and impact, including the first comprehensive community needs assessment for West Chester & Liberty Townships. This new strategy led to a 50% growth in charitable assets, wider impact for our community, and a sustainable Foundation that will be here to future generations.

    2016

    Settling into Our "Forever Home"

We moved to our current office location on Cincinnati Dayton Road in Olde West Chester, our “forever home”.

    2020

    Name Change

In response to continued growth beyond the borders of West Chester and Liberty Township we changed our name to the Northern Cincinnati Foundation to better reflect the regional aspect of our impact.
